Download it: New Van Halen!

If you have not heard, Van Halen released their new album with David Lee Roth.  A Different Kind of Truth is the band’s first effort with Diamond Dave since the much acclaimed “1984″.  If you are an old school VH guy/gal, you are going to love this album!  It truly rocks from start to finish. (It is perfect for hitting the treadmill.)  You can really hear some youth in this album as well.  The influence of Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang Van Halen, is clear.  I can just hear Wolfgang in the studio: “Umm Dad, Uncle Alex…. actually, that riff is not really that cool….. just saying….. “

Van Halen was at their peak when I was in high school.  They represented a major portion of the sound track for my senior year at Jefferson High School.  It is great to hear them back again.  If you like Van Halen, you will really appreciate this album.  If you didn’t like Van Hagar, you will LOVE this album!

New Restaurant in Applewood…

From the guys that brought you Sloan’s Bar & Grill, here comes their next venture! In what used to be a 7-11 convenience store at 20th and Youngfield, they are almost ready to open Teller’s Kitchen & Tap. There will be 30 different beers on tap and a very tasty menu as well. As a lifelong Applewood resident, I happy to see a higher end pub like this moving in! Maybe I will see you there! More later…

Ross Kaminsky is moving on up!

I remember being disappointed when I heard that Sen. John Andrews was going to be leaving Backbone Radio on KNUS.  Sen. Andrews and Backbone was my go-to radio show on Sunday nights when I would find some downtime to get some work done on the computer.  I remember thinking, “maybe they will give that young, Russ Kempinsky guy a shot?”.  Well, sure enough, ROSS KAMINSKY got the show.  He has been a real pleasure to listen to over the past few years.  Now Kaminsky is moving on from Backbone Radio on 710 KNUS and making a strong, vertical move to the 50,000 watt blowtorch!  The Ross Kaminsky Show will now be heard on 850 KOA from 11 AM to 2 PM on Sundays.

Kaminsky has a strong command of the issues with a background in business and economics.  He has a rational, libertarian edge but still maintains a mainstream Republican view of most subjects with a dash of Tea Party, for good measure.  He attracts good guests for certain.  He regularly has on State Senator Greg Brophy which makes for some very informative conversations about what is going on under the Gold Dome.  He also has on national political figures, authors and pundits.  Kaminsky is a regular contributor to The American Spectator and is the author of one of my favorite blogs: Rossputin.com

Congrats to Ross Kaminsky!  I will be listening!

Mitt Romney shows something…

Mitt Romney really showed me something last night. He continues to improve and refuses to back down. He is proving with each debate that a somewhat drawn out primary can be good for a candidate. He also demonstrates that having run for POTUS once before is a true asset. Strong and steady wins the race. And a boatload of money doesn’t hurt!
